5 Things I’m Grateful for this Thanksgiving

My Son – Not many of you probably know this but I have an 8-year-old son who is my whole world. At the age of 18, entering my first year at Western University I found out I was 10 weeks pregnant with my him. At the time I was devastated, and now I could not imagine my life without him. He is the most thoughtful, caring and loving little boy. I am so thankful for the joy he has brought to our family.

My Boyfriend – Navigating the tribulations of life is not always easy as a single mom. My boyfriend Connor came into my life about a year and a half ago and has become the most wonderful partner. He has shown my son and I am so much love, and I will be forever grateful for that.

My Family – My parents have supported my son and I throughout my university degree and now as I study fashion marketing at Fanshawe College. I would not be where I am today without them. I also have three amazing sisters who have all been the most supportive babysitters, cheerleaders and loyal friends. I am so lucky to have three sisters who double as best friends!

My Friends – I am still friends with 12 of my closest high school girlfriends, and it is the best thing ever. Some of them have relocated to other parts of the province or country but we are all so connected and get together multiple times a year. Most of them I even see every Monday night for Bachelor viewing parties. We have been through so much together. I am so fortunate to have such an awesome group of girlfriends to go through life with.

My Health – Lastly, especially at a time when so many people across the world are struggling with the effects of the pandemic, I am so grateful for my good health. It is easy to get caught up in the materialistic possessions in life, but we must never take our health for granted.

I am so grateful that I am able to enjoy a delicious turkey dinner this thanksgiving with my family and friends. However, it is important to recognize not everyone is as fortunate this thanksgiving. Many people struggle to put food on the table to feed their families. The London Food Bank is a great way to give back to our community and help feed those in need during the holidays. I have added the link to the online donation webpage below.
